Metrowest Outreach Connection Inc 87 Edgell Rd Framingham, MA 01701 website: http://www.mwoconnection.org Our mission is to prevent homelessness and to assist those who have lost their housing to obtain permanent housing. Our motto is 'Every family needs a home . . . every child deserves a home.' We believe that every child should have their most basic needs met - food, shelter, clothing and an education. Families living in shelters are challenged in every one of these areas. Those who eventually attain permanent housing usually are able to obtain the other three most basic needs with or without the help of service. Our second program, Health Through Housing, is designed to help victims of domestic abuse.

Veterans Northeast Outreach Center, Inc. (978)521-9668 65 Cedar St Haverhill, MA 01830 website: http://www.northeastveterans.org The Veterans Northeast Outreach Center was founded in 1985 to address the needs of Veterans and their families throughout the Merrimack Valley. The Center offers information, referral, advocacy and support to the 36,000 Veterans who live in the valley. In 1997, the VNOC expanded its services to Veterans by opening a transitional housing program, The Veterans Mansion, to serve homeless Veterans. The Mansion serves 22 homeless Veterans who can benefit from a sober, supportive, working environment as they make their way back to the mainstream. The VNOC has grown over these past several years, responding to the needs of the Veteran population by providing a wide range of direct and indirect services such as a clinical individual and group counseling, case management, employment support services, emergency food supplies, and a large referral base. The VNOC has also enjoined with the local VA hospital to develop a network of services dedicated to the needs of the aging Veteran population. In the fall of 2001,the VNOC opened The Veterans Campus which added 25 transitional housing units, established VetWorks, an employment assistance and placement service, and expanded its outreach service capacity. The VNOC looks forward to breaking ground on a new construction project in 2003 to add 10 permanent affordable rental housing units to the Veterans Campus. The leadership of the VNOC is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors who are primarily Veterans and leaders in the community, the Executive Director, and an Assistant Director.

The Lions Den Youth Outreach Center, Inc. (413)543-4444 PO Box 51142 Indian Orchard, MA 01151 website: http://www.lionsdenoutreach.org The Lion's Den evolved in response to a critical situation in the lives of many inner city teens, who are lacking a basic moral and spiritual foundation. Statistics show that 85% of teenagers would not attend a church or youth group event. They are not in a place where they can learn about life's serious questions and develop a personal relationship with God. The Lion's Den, through the efforts of many different churches and area businesses, is a place where these teens can connect.

Since its inception we have provided over 100,000 meals and snacks. And have served over 7,500 youths. Our program is also devoted to assisting the low-income and disadvantaged youth of our communities with their homework, teaching them computer and literacy skills, lessons in self-empowerments and offering them recreational activities, counseling and individual mentoring they so desperately need. S.O.K. after school Drop-In-Centers provide a vitalizing and disciplined alterative to the street corner, where many of these children would be if our programs were not available. We are now expanding and evolving our services to include summer activates that will get these children out of the inner city to enjoy healthy alternatives. We have added to our programs a Children's Residence that provides an innovative program. It afforsa a hoe away from home atmosphere with a difference. We arrange with a head of household to take high-risk youth out of their every day environment and give them 2-3 days of loving attention, that includes cooking lessons, excerise classes, varied trips with cultural themes, sports and other forms of recreation.
